Bill Evans first joined Miles Davis at the age of 22 in 1980. He went on to record 6 records with Davis, as well as tour the world with him many times over a 4 year period. The stint with Davis was followed by 3 years with John McLaughlin and the Mahavishnu Orchestra that went on to tour and record 3 CDs.

Since his tenure with Davis and McLaughlin, Bill has recorded and toured with Herbie Hancock, Lee Ritenour, Dave Grusin, and Mick Jagger, to name but a few.

Bill has been touring almost exclusively with his own band since 1990, playing well over 100 concerts per year worldwide, and has produced, arranged and recorded 14 solo CDs as a leader. Throughout his 20-year career as a solo artist, multi Grammy nominated saxophonist Bill Evans has explored a variety of musical settings that go well beyond the confines of traditional jazz, including hip-hop, fusion, reggae, Brazilian and slamming funk. Evans steps into more adventurous territory on Soulgrass, blending jazz, funk and roots music into a seamless and wholly unique hybrid of quintessential American styles.

Bill Evans has assembled another powerhouse touring band, featuring some of the most in-demand musicians on the scene. He now brings Soulgrass to the US audiences who have been writing him for years to tour the States. Bill says, "Its amazing to see the ecstatic response from people every night who have never heard banjo, fiddle and saxophone together in this context." Bill Evans Soulgrass has been described by the newspaper El Mundo from Madrid, Spain as the most energizing and fresh sounding blend of Americana and Funk, and Bill's innovative music and high-energy live shows are something not to be missed.
