The Cayuga Vocal Ensemble will perform a concert beginning at 8pm on Friday November 5th at St. Mary's Church, 44 North Main Street in Cortland. The Cayuga Vocal Ensemble is a sixteen-voice choral ensemble of professionally-trained singers, presenting a wide variety of works from a broad spectrum of periods and genres. The November 5th concert is titled "Something Old, Something New", featuring 20th-century compositions with older inspirations. Selections include an a cappella Mass by Vincent Persichetti, four motets based on Gregorian Chant by Maurice Durufle, songs by Debussy and Ned Rorem, and a little something "blue". There is no charge for admission, but free-will offerings will be gratefully accepted.
This event is made possible by the parishoners of St. Mary's Church in Cortland. Additional funds came from the New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization Grant Program, a State Agency, and the Cultural Resources Council, a Regional Arts Council as well as a grant from the Ralph R. Wilkins Foundation.
