The Arts at Grace Sunday afternoon concert series will open its fifth season on Sunday, November 2 at 3 p.m. (note the new time) at Grace Episcopal Church, 13 Court Street in Cortland. Violinist Kia-Hui Tan and pianist Blaise Bryski will play selections from George Gershwin's Porgy and Bess. Other featured works will include the Second Sonata for Violin and Piano by Charles Ives, Suite for Violin and Piano by William Grant Still and Sonata for Violin and Piano by John Corigliano. The audience will be able to meet and talk with the performers after the conclusion of the concert.
Violinist Kia-Hui Tan has performed as concerto soloist, recitalist and chamber musician on five continents in addition to broadcasting live on radio, television and the internet. She has been described as a "violinist whose virtuosity was astonishing." Pianist Blaise Bryski has been an accompanist at Cornell University, UCLA, the Los Angeles Master Chorale, University of Southern California, and the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. He also has been a professional pianist in Los Angeles in many styles including rock and jazz. His performance credits are equally varied.
